“Saving Our Environment Is the Most Important Aspect if We Want a Healthier Tomorrow”: Sandeep Rajora on Going Green on TV Sets

Actor Sandeep Rajora, who is currently seen in producer Rajan Shahi’s long-running show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, believes that protecting the environment is a collective responsibility and that even small changes can create a significant impact. The show is produced under Director’s Kut Productions.

Speaking about sustainability, Sandeep says, “Saving our environment is the most important aspect if we want a healthier and prosperous tomorrow. Presently, we are dealing with an ominous war situation, and preservation of energy is our prime focus.”

The actor reveals that he and his team have consciously adopted simple yet effective measures on set to reduce their environmental footprint. “The practice that we follow most lately is switching off our makeup room ACs when we go on set to shoot our scenes. This saves power and helps us do our part in energy saving,” he shares.

Apart from conserving electricity, Sandeep also highlights the efforts made to minimise plastic waste. “To reduce plastic waste, we have shifted from individual sealed packaged water bottles to filtered RO water. This hugely reduces the plastic waste on our set,” he says.

When asked about the immediate changes that television productions can implement, the actor believes that responsible waste management and controlled power consumption should be prioritised. “Sets should manage their plastic and other waste better. They should also try to cut down on electric consumption,” he says.

Sandeep further feels that the entertainment industry should think beyond short-term solutions and adopt sustainable practices that can bring lasting change. “Solar power generation on sets can be a game changer, I feel,” he adds.

As conversations around climate change and sustainability gain momentum, Sandeep Rajora’s message remains clear: every mindful effort counts. Whether it’s switching off an air conditioner, reducing plastic usage or exploring renewable energy options, small everyday choices can collectively contribute to a greener and healthier future.
