You don’t think of the moment people start recognizing you, but it’s special: Shubhangi Atre

Shubhangi Atre, who was last seen in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! fame, was not an instant success; rather, she was something that grew with every show she did, every character she played. What made her truly realize it was when people started recognizing her in public, and not just by the character she played but by her real name.

She said, “When an actor starts acting, their focus should be on the work they are doing, their craft, and how to improve it. Fame automatically comes to those who are honest to their profession. But for an actor, the first thing should be to deliver their best performance. When you start acting like some important person in public, the public rejects you. But when you let it happen on its own, the public starts showing respect for you as an artist and an individual.”

“You don’t think of the moment people start recognizing you, but it’s special. Whenever it happens, you need to be patient and let it happen on its own,” she added.

Shubhangi stressed that those moments started happening during simple outings, a visit to a restaurant, a shopping outing, or even a simple evening walk. “When you give your 100%, when you play a character with utmost dedication that forces the audience to connect with you, things start happening on their own. For me, it started with people calling out my character’s name. That’s how it starts for everyone,” she said.

“However, when they have built a deeper connection with you, they like to know you personally. That’s when today’s social media pages come into play, and people get to know your name and the real you. And slowly, people start calling you by your real name and then appreciate you for the character. That’s when you realize you have truly made it,” she added.

But she explained that this recognition can be both exciting and overwhelming. “There is a certain responsibility that comes with people knowing you. People look at you with so much love and appreciation, and you need to reciprocate that love. “You can’t dismiss that love, because thanks to that love, it has made you what you are,” Shubhangi ended.
