Parichay Sharma Opens Up on His 9-Year Break from Television and Personal Growth

Parichay Sharma’s career has never followed a straight line. From reality television to Bollywood, from playing Dawood Ibrahim to playing Bhagat Singh, the actor currently seen in Vasudha has taken every detour the industry has offered.

His journey began with Splitsvilla. He said, “Then I did my first project with Zee TV in 2013, titled Aur Pyar Ho Gaya. That came in 2013, I think. Then after that, there was Channel V’s Sada Haq. It was a very prominent youngster show. After that, I did Balika Vadhu. That was a very prominent show in Indian history. So I did that one year.”

More roles followed in quick succession. He said, “After that, I did Begusarai with Shweta Tiwari; she played my mother. So that was in 2016. And then there was Zee Zindagi. I did a show called Khwabo Ki Zameen Pe. I played a negative lead in that. It was 2016-17.”

Then Parichay stepped away from television. He said, “From 2017 to 2020, it was a very lean period. My movie didn’t release. Then in 2021, my movie got released, D Company. I played Dawood Ibrahim there. That was a totally different chapter of life.”

The years away from TV were spent on varied projects. He said, “Then I did a web series on MX Player as a lead called Dhanam in 22. Then after that, I did a web series called Johri. Then after that, I did Swaraj. I played Bhagat Singh in that. It was also a very dear character to me. I was totally keen to do this character like Bhagat Singh. Another aspiration is to play Shivaji someday.”

After nearly a decade, he returned to the medium that started it all. He said, “17, I took an exit. From 17 to 26 is like 9 years. After 9 years, I came back. Things have changed now. A lot of things have changed.”

The years away changed him too. “It’s not the same boy who exited TV. These 9-10 years have taught me a lot. In real life, I’m a very simple person. I’m like a plain-hearted guy. And I’ve always been like this. But now, a little mature,” Parichay added.
