Amandeep Sidhu on why Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan co-stars Shubhangi Latkar, Indira Krishna are her biggest inspirations

Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan on Zee TV has carved a distinct space for itself with its compelling portrayal of four powerful women- Sneha (Amandeep Sidhu), Durgawati (Indira Krishna), Ganga Mai (Shubhangi Latkar) and Indu (Shraddha Jaiswal). Each character has been widely appreciated for her strength, boldness and realism, portrayed with nuanced shades of grey that make them deeply relatable. Adding to this, Amandeep Sidhu, who essays the role of Sneha, believes the show truly stands apart for presenting women who are unapologetically strong, opinionated and resilient, characters who reflect real voices and real struggles, rather than stereotypes.

Speaking about the unique dynamic of the show, Amandeep shares, “Durgawati, Sneha, Ganga Mai, and Indu, all four of us are very strong-headed, resilient women. Each of us has our own perspective, and naturally, they’re very different from one another. Take Indu, for instance, she may be a negative character, yet there are moments when you can’t help but empathize with her. The impact of the show is such that even my real-life experiences reflect it. My mother once called me and scolded me, asking why I dislike Durgawati, insisting that she isn’t a bad woman at all. I laughed and told her it’s not me, it’s Sneha who feels that way. That’s when you realise the kind of impact the show has had; it makes people connect with and empathise with characters who have shades of grey, something you rarely see on television today.”

Beyond the screen, Amandeep finds deep inspiration in her co-actors, especially the veteran actors Shubhangi Latkar and Indira Krishna, who play pivotal roles in shaping her journey as an actor and an individual. Amandeep shares, “I learn something new from these three women on set every day, they inspire me immensely. With Shubhangi ma’am, the bond I share mirrors the one I have with my own mother. I absolutely adore her, and there are things I can share with her that I can’t even discuss with my mom. Indira ma’am, apart from being a brilliant actress, is a truly wonderful human being. There’s so much to learn from her, both as an actor and a professional. And with Shraddha ji, I’ve formed a deep emotional connection, she has taught me how to be emotionally stronger and more balanced.”

As Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan moves forward with heightened drama and suspense, audiences can’t wait to discover how life will unfold for Sneha, Durgawati, Indu and Ganga Mai.
