Ishika Shahi spills the beans on casting Priyanshi Yadav and Mishkat Verma for Tu Yaa Koi Nahi

Ishika Shahi’s new web show Tu Yaa Koi Nahi featuring Priyanshi Yadav and Mishkat Verma is out. Produced under Director’s Kut Productions, it is streaming on their official YouTube channel. Ishika believes casting is where a show either finds its soul or loses it, and her account of finding Priyanshi and Mishkat is one of the more honest casting stories you will hear.

She said, “When I first met Priyanshi, she was incredibly soft-spoken, polite, and humble. Looking at her, I wondered if she would be able to portray someone like Myra, who is loud, bold, emotional, and intense. Myra screams, shouts, fights, and even experiences a complete mental breakdown. She has such a strong personality that I genuinely questioned whether Priyanshi could embody her.”

“When I asked that, Priyanshi’s mother simply laughed and said, ‘Ishika, you don’t know her.’ I asked Priyanshi to audition, and she absolutely amazed me. She looked perfect for Myra, but what truly impressed me was her acting. The moment I saw her perform one of the scenes, I knew we had found our Myra. She is one of the most talented actors I’ve worked with. She can adapt to any role, and any director or writer would be lucky to have her. She’s humble, grounded, easy to work with, and incredibly gifted. There were times when I found myself crying while watching her perform because she brought such authenticity and emotion to every scene,” she added.

Mishkat, on the other hand, had the toughest job because he had to portray two completely different characters. The actor plays a double role in the show. Ansh is raw, rustic, intense, and somewhat intimidating, while Yash is funny, dramatic, and full of charm. Ishika said, “Watching Mishkat switch between these two personalities was incredible. There were moments when he performed a scene so brilliantly that I started applauding. He eventually told me, ‘Ishika, the next time you like my scene, just say it’s nice.’”

“After that, I simply started saying, ‘It’s nice.’ Mishkat handled the challenge effortlessly. He mastered both characters, and audiences are going to love watching him. What’s remarkable is his versatility; he can transform completely depending on the role. Not every actor can convincingly pull off two such contrasting personalities, but he did it beautifully,” she added.

Being on YouTube changes the relationship between creator and audience in ways she clearly values. She said, “I think it’s a privilege to have audiences interact directly with your work and to be able to read their comments. As a writer, it gives you access to perspectives that you might never have considered before. I love that the show is on a platform where everyone can watch, interact, and share their thoughts freely without restrictions.”

With Episode 1 already out, there is one thing she is watching the audience for most closely. She said, “The chemistry. I really want audiences to fall in love with the chemistry between the characters and become eager to discover Ansh’s past. Episode 1 ends with a hook that sets up the exploration of Ansh’s background, his relationship with Myra, and the story behind their love. Although Yash is the focus in the present timeline, there’s an intense romantic story waiting to unfold. Episode 2 begins to reveal that journey.”

“Even though the story starts with a dark premise, Yash’s arrival immediately brings warmth and lightness. When Ansh enters the story, viewers will see a completely different side of Mishkat’s performance and understand how different Myra’s life was in the past. The contrast between these relationships is something I’m really excited for audiences to experience,” Ishika ended.
