Actor Amal Sehrawat, known for his work in television and films such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Sarkar 3, and Satya 2, recently spoke about the increasing challenges celebrities face in public spaces. Discussing fan interactions, crowd management, and the growing need for security, Amal emphasized that while admiration from fans is valuable, personal boundaries must also be respected.
Speaking about whether heightened security arrangements during public appearances indicate that celebrity spaces have become increasingly unsafe, Amal said, “Celebrities are public figures, so it is natural for people to feel excited when they see them or get an opportunity to take a photograph with them. Fans admire them, look up to them, and often consider them their heroes.”
He further added, “However, many times people get carried away by that excitement and unintentionally cross personal boundaries by pushing through crowds, gathering too closely, or attempting to touch them. That is where situations can start becoming unsafe.”
Explaining why security becomes essential in such situations, Amal said, “When celebrities are surrounded by fans, they often have no idea who is touching them, from where, or with what intention. That is exactly when security personnel need to step in and ensure their safety. Increased security intervention reflects how challenging and, at times, unsafe celebrity spaces can become today.”
When asked whether fans today understand the difference between admiration and intrusion, Amal said, “That line has never been entirely clear. We grew up hearing countless stories of extreme fan devotion and have seen how far fans can go to get the attention of their favorite celebrities.”
He explained, “Cinema is a powerful medium that creates a deep, unspoken emotional connection between actors and audiences. Anything driven entirely by emotion is rarely perfectly balanced. That is why the line between admiration and intrusion has always been blurred, and in today’s hyper-connected world, it has become even more fragile.”
Addressing whether celebrities should be expected to tolerate chaotic crowds at public events, Amal stated, “Celebrities should never be expected to endure crowd chaos simply because interacting with people is part of their profession. While meeting fans is an important aspect of being a public figure, safety and personal boundaries cannot be compromised.”
He continued, “Crowd situations can become unpredictable within seconds, and what begins as excitement can quickly turn dangerous. Today, strong security is not a luxury but a necessity. Their role is not to create distance between celebrities and fans but to ensure that interactions remain safe, respectful, and well-managed for everyone involved.”
Sharing his thoughts on the perception that viral videos of security interventions reveal weak crowd control at celebrity events, Amal said, “On the contrary, I believe crowd control at public events is stronger than ever before. The real difference lies in visibility.”
He added, “Earlier, without social media and instant content sharing, many such incidents never came to public attention. Today, almost everyone carries a smartphone, so even minor security-related incidents can be recorded and go viral within minutes. It may seem as though such incidents are increasing, but in reality, we are simply seeing them more than ever before.”
Amal also spoke about the role of bodyguards in managing such situations. “I believe it is a combination of security requirements and the realities of modern fame. When a bodyguard intervenes, it is primarily a safety measure designed to protect the celebrity, especially when situations become unpredictable or physically overwhelming.”
Concluding his thoughts, he said, “At the same time, it reflects the reality of modern fame. The level of access, attention, and emotional intensity surrounding celebrities today can escalate very quickly. The excitement of a crowd can transform into chaos within moments, and that is precisely why security becomes essential.”
